Description
The GE-Emerson IC655BEM510 Series Five Genius Bus Controller is the required interface between the Series Five PLC and the Genius I/O network. This unit is a single module that consists of a motherboard and a daughterboard and it occupies one slot of the Series Five base unit. It performs two primary functions to provide a remote I/O capability within a Series Five PLC system: compatibility with Genius I/O blocks, and CPU-to-CPU communications. Communications on the serial bus are half-duplex at selectable baud rates from 38.4 to 153.6 Kbps.
The Genius Network consists of up to 32 Genius I/O devices, connected through a shielded, twisted pair on a serial link up to 7500 feet in length. It provides fast and automatic error detection and recovery. The Genius network has a robust design that offers electrical isolation and excellent noise immunity, making it suitable for factory environments.
