The GE-Emerson IC697CPM924 Series 90-70 Floating Point CPU is configured using Windows or MS-DOS programming software. The CPU performs the function of controlling material-handling devices, processes, and machines. The rack-mounted backplane facilitates communication between the option modules and the I/O modules. The input current required by this module is 3.3 Amps from the 5V bus.
The CPU includes four green LEDs to display its status. A software password or keyswitch can be used to secure the configuration as well as program data.
The CPU comes with 1MB of memory for data as well as program storage. It also has flash memory, allowing the user to update firmware without removing the memory device such as EPROM. The lithium battery retains memory even after removing the power.
The operation may be controlled by the three-position RUN/STOP switch or remotely by an attached programmer and programming software. Program and configuration data can be locked through software passwords or manually by the memory protect keyswitch. When the key is in the protected position, program, and configuration data can only be changed by a programmer connected parallel using the Bus Transmitter module.
