Description

The Allen-Bradley 1747-SDN SLC 500 DeviceNet Communication Scanner Module acts as an interface between DeviceNet devices and the SLC 500 processor. The SDN module communicates with DeviceNet devices over the network to:

  • read inputs from a device
  • write outputs to a device
  • download configuration data
  • monitor a device's operational status

The module communicates with the processor in the form of M1/M0 File Transfers and/or Discrete I/O. Information exchanged includes the following:

  • Device I/O data
  • Status information
  • Configuration data

The SDN can also be used to bridge a DeviceNet network to another network. It communicates with a device via strobe, poll, change of state, and/or cyclic messages. It uses these messages to solicit data from or deliver data to each device. Input data received from the devices is organized by the SDN module and made available to the processor. Output data received from the SLC 500 processor is organized in the SDN module and sent on to application devices.
