The chassis must be powered off before removing or installing the processor to avoid harm to the user or damage to the equipment. The processor's battery may be replaced while the processor is on. 

The processor is designed for use in small and medium automation applications, and supports implementation of extended I/O and remote I/O chassis via a supported communication adapter.
