Description

The Allen-Bradley 1769-SDN CompactLogix DeviceNet Scanner Communication Module facilitates communication between CompactLogix controllers, MicroLogix 1500 programmable controllers, and DeviceNet devices. The 1769-SDN is sensitive to environmental disruption, and should not be installed in atmospheres containing volatile or corrosive gas, vapors, or dust. The module searches for a properly configured DeviceNet adapter to establish a connection to the network.

To solicit and deliver data to network devices, the scanner sends strobe, poll, change of state, or cyclic I/O messages. The module then organizes the received data, which becomes accessible to the processor for implementing data-related user logic. The 1769-SDN does not require a power supply, as the backplane provides voltage to the module's circuitry.
