The Allen-Bradley 1746-IN16 SLC 500 Digital AC/DC Sinking Input Module interfaces with discrete input signals, operating within 10 to 30 VDC/VAC voltage ranges. The module is used by the PLC to interface with processes. Each channel on the module includes a dedicated LED displaying each channel as active or inactive, which can be used for troubleshooting to confirm successful field side delivery of the signal to the module. 

The module may be added to a chassis either joined with the PLC processor, or on an SLC expansion slot. Provided male connectors aligned with the chassis' integrated bus connectors allow the module to be connected directly to the chassis.
