The GE-Emerson IC697ALG321 Series 90-70 Analog Input Module is a solid-state input interface designed to allow industrial machine users to reduce wiring installation time and streamline troubleshooting procedures. The module comes with four independent voltage channels that can be connected to any type of actuator, indicator, or transductor that is compatible with the Series 90-70 control architecture. The module is installed via insertion into any available slot in the backplane of a GE Fanuc PLC, which should be disconnected from power in order to avoid electrical arcs, as hot-swap operations are not supported. When the module is correctly mounted, the technicians will hear an audible click. All of the wiring connections are made directly into a separate terminal board, not into this module.
The module is made of durable plastic and comes from the factory in an open-style enclosure, which is not able to or intended to provide sufficient protection against high humidity or to prevent the entry of dirt or water into the device. It should be installed inside a properly protected enclosure, in order to keep it clean and safe and to maintain it within the environmental parameters recommended by the manufacturer for trouble-free operation.
